A SANEF delegation today met with Smuts Ngonyama, head of the presidency in the ANC, to register its unhappiness at the treatment of journalists covering the ANC's 52nd National Conference. The delegation, comprising Jovial Rantao (Chair), Henry Jeffreys (Deputy Chair) and Mathatha Tsedu (council member), presented Ngonyama with a letter that outlined SANEF's concerns. A copy of the letter is attached.

Ngonyama apologised, on behalf of the ANC, for the treatment that journalists have experienced at the hands of ANC security personnel. He promised that the ANC would take action to improve the working conditions of journalists covering the national conference.
