SANEF at Cape High Court this morning (Tues August 24)

An interim order was granted by the Cape High Court interdicting the Portfolio Committee on Communications from going ahead with the closed meeting on the SABC today (Aug 24, 2010)
The two parties will return to court to argue at a later date.  A Sanef Statement will be issued later today.

SA NATIONAL EDITORS’ FORUM (SANEF) PRESS STATEMENT

The South African National Editors’ Forum (Sanef) notes with interest the arrest this morning of Sunday Times journalist Mzilikazi wa Afrika at the newspapers’ offices in Rosebank. The forum reserves comment on the merits or demerits of the arrest until such time as it obtains clarity on the matter, especially on the reasons for the very public arrest.
